Sensory processing and integration refers to the way in which a child registers and processes information from the vestibular, (movement sensation), proprioceptive (muscle and joint sensations), tactile (touch) , visual and auditory systems. A child must demonstrate the ability to organize these information to adapt to the environmental or task demands. An inadequate development in sensory processing and integration can result in motor delays, irritable temperaments, hyperactivity, lack of responses, high or low arousal level and alertness, and further compromises the advancing across all developmental domains.
