A therapy session is conducted to facilitate target skills. The therapist will teamwork with the caregivers to support the child during the therapy session. A therapy session can also take forms of parental coaching, consultation, and direct treatment to maximize therapy outcomes.
Online Telehealth v.s. In-person sessions
An online virtual session (telehealth) is as beneficial and effective as an in-person session. While in person sessions allow the therapist to work directly with the child and the family, online virtual sessions require FULL participation from the caregivers to support the child and the sessions. Thus, the caregivers will be actively and profoundly guided through many intervention concepts, steps, and techniques during the sessions. As a result, caregivers constantly acquire the right skills to carry over treatment activities and home programs outside the therapy time.
It is also found that telehealth can be time saving and it allows great flexibility for scheduling.
